She conducts research at the Victims, Offenders and Justice System Laboratory of the Psychology Research Centre at UMinho and is the coordinator of the Trauma Consultation Service. She has led several research projects in the field of trauma and is the author or co-author of dozens of publications on these topics. She is also a member of the Scientific Committee of the Stress Resources Centre (in a Military Context) of the Ministry of Defence.

Ângela da Costa Maia, Associate Professor with Habilitation at the School of Psychology of the University of Minho, holds a PhD in Clinical Psychology, a Habilitation in Applied Psychology, and is the Director of the Department of Applied Psychology.
