Since 2020, she has been the Vice President of the Social Security Institute.

From 1998 to 2005, she was responsible for the Health and Social Action Office of the Montijo City Council, focusing on the elderly, domestic violence, people with disabilities, social area planning, and support for nonprofit organizations.

From 2011 to 2013, she coordinated the Microcredit Project ‘Lisboa Empreende’ at the Lisbon City Council, where she worked as a senior technician.

From 2005 to 2009, she served as Deputy to the Secretary of State for Social Security, focusing on cooperation with nonprofit organizations, long-term care, and social responses.

From February to October 2009, she was the President of CITE – the Commission for Equality in the Workplace and Employment.

From 2015 to 2017, she was the Secretary of State for Citizenship and Equality in the XXI Constitutional Government.

From 2009 to September 2020, she was a Member of Parliament (XI and XII, XIII and XIV Legislatures), serving on the Committee for Labor and Social Security, the Committee on Constitutional Affairs, Rights, Freedoms, and Guarantees, the Committee on Health, and the Subcommittee on Equality.

In the XIV Legislature, she was the Vice President of the Committee on Labor and Social Security.
