Architect and former City Councillor for Social Rights at the Lisbon City Council

João Afonso ia a architect and Former Councillor for Social Rights at the Lisbon City Council. He has worked as a public servant, freelance professional, curator, editor of books and architecture magazines, researcher, and guest lecturer in higher education, as well as being responsible for planning and evaluation in the social and institutional sectors.  

He was President of the Student Association of the Faculty of Architecture (UTL), President of the Lisbon Academic Association, and National Secretary of the Order of Architects.

He served as Councillor for Social Rights at the Lisbon City Council and chaired the Lisbon Local Social Action Council from 2013 to 2017.

He is the national coordinator of the 2nd edition of the Healthy Neighbourhoods Programme (cancelled by the 24th Government).

He is a member of the Advisory Board of GRACE, the Advisory Board of GAT, and the jury of the National Volunteering Award.
