A psychologist, he began working in the field of Substance Abuse Disorder (CAD) in 1988 at the Center for Drug Prevention Studies in Lisbon. Over the past decade (2013-2023), he has served as the Coordinator of the Division for Intervention in Addictive Behaviors and Dependencies at ARSLVT, IP.
Previously, he was the Head of the Technical Support Unit at the Regional Delegation of Lisbon and Tagus Valley for the Institute on Drugs and Drug Addiction (IDT) (2008-2012), Director of the Prevention Unit for the Setúbal District of IDT (2003-2007), and part of the Operational Unit team in the Community Intervention Department of the Portuguese Institute on Drugs and Drug Addiction (1999-2003), as well as the Research Team at the Planning and Coordination Office for Drug Control (1989-1999).
