Maria João Ruela, 53 years old.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Social Communication from the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences at Nova University of Lisbon and is currently pursuing a doctorate in Sustainability and Development at the Open University.
Since 2016, she has been a consultant to the President of the Republic for Social Affairs and Portuguese Communities.
Prior to that date, she worked as a journalist, news anchor, and executive editor at SIC, from the television station’s inception.
