Patrícia Reis was born in 1970 in Lisbon. She began her journalism career at “O Independente,” worked for the “Sábado” magazine, and interned at the American magazine “Time”.

She was a part of “Expresso,” produced the television program “Sexualidades,” and worked for “Marie Claire,” “Elle,” and special projects at the newspaper “Público.” Since 2000, she has been the editor of “Egoísta” magazine.

She made her debut in fiction in 2004 with the novel “Cruz das Almas,” followed by novels such as “Amor em Segunda Mão” (2006), “Morder-Te o Coração” (2007), which was a finalist for the Portugal Telecom Award of Literature, “No Silêncio de Deus” (2008), “Antes de Ser Feliz” (2009), “Por Este Mundo Acima” (2011), “Contracorpo” (2013), “Gramática do Medo” (2016), co-written with Maria Manuel Viana, “A Construção do Vazio” (2017), and “As Crianças Invisíveis” (2019). She has also authored biographical works and children’s and young adult books, including the “Diário do Micas” collection, endorsed by the Plano Nacional de Leitura.

The novell”O que nos separa dos outros por causa de um copo de whisky” (2014) unanimously won the National Literature Prize from the Lions Foundation. “Da Meia-Noite às Seis” (2021) is her latest novel. She is also a co-author of the podcast “Um Género de Conversa.”
