Mgr. Pavol Sabela, a social worker with homeless people, founder of the non-governmental organization STOPA Slovakia in Bratislava, which runs several projects aimed at ending street homelessness. He has been active in the field of homeless people for 20 years.
He is a standard setter for the Department of Health of Slovakia in the context of homeless people with mental illness. In his specialization, the most important topic of trauma of homelessness and its solution.
At the same time, he is an accredited supervisor and has a number of accredited trainings from different countries. He has practice experiences by several countries and is a member of The European End Street Homelessness.
For the last eight years, he has been working with homeless people as a social worker and director of the civic association STOPA Slovakia in Bratislava. By his experiences actively tries to implement the Housing first and Housing led approaches and skills acquisition tools for homeless people, with the aim of applying them to the labour market.
For the past two years, he has also been working on the front line with people fleeing war conflicts in Ukraine and Syria with the aim of preventing homelessness among these people.
