Jules van Dam is president of Feantsa, the federation of European organisations working for homeless people. He has been a member of the executive committee of Feantsa since 2020.
He started the Dutch NGO ‘De Tussenvoorziening’ in Utrecht in 1993 to work for homeless people and people living in poverty. This is now a broad organisation which offers among others housing first, shelters, debt management and sheltered living for specific groups like homeless people with psychiatric and/ or drug problems and/or mental handicaps.
The organisation now has 550 employees and 400 volunteers working for homeless people. Jules van Dam has been the director of ‘De
Tussenvoorziening’ for more than 30 years and he is retired from that since September 2024.
