Pharmacist and Coordinator of Kosmicare’s drug-checking service

Mar graduated from Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Lisbon, where he developed research in neuroscience, with a focus on biomolecular mechanisms of neurodegeneration.
He works in harm reduction since 2017 with NGOs providing science-based information on psychoactive substances and on-site drug-checking analysis across several festivals in Portugal.
Currently, Mar manages Kosmicare’s drug-checking drop-in service, creates content and science communication about drugs, pharmacology and harm reduction.
In collaboration with LGBTQIA+ collectives in Lisbon, he shaped Ravers’ Care Corner, a harm reduction and queercare team.
